The Chinese Connection

Bruce Lee has this almost magical ability to turn even the worst movies into ones worth watching… over and over again.

The Chinese Connection certainly falls within this group of films. It is badly written, an extraordinarily cheesy plot, and comically stereotypical characters. Still, regardless of all these overwhelming obstacles, Bruce Lee provides the viewer with 108 minutes of kung-fu brilliance. The movie is fast, contains political undertones, and is choreographed like a typical 1972 Golden Harvest martial arts film.

Oh, and the special “bad guy” brought in from another country – those familiar with Lee films will understand – looks like a Russian version of Willy Wonka. Villy Vonka? At any rate, he was no Carlos “Chuck” Norris… then again, nobody can match up to good ole Chuck.
